“Sculpture has been at the core of my cultural life since adolescence when I discovered Arp. Even as a child I spotted a Barbara Hepworth in a history book and asked the art teacher if I could make something like that. Youth is oblivious in its ambition. My love of sculpture and abstract art continues and I remain committed to the object. I see it as having contemporary relevance alongside performance, digital and other art forms. By looking again at the object the sculptor tries to redefine it and find its sculptural essence. This becomes a lodestone in comparison with the multitude of things manufactured by industry. At this stage in my career I have had solo shows, carried out large scale public art commissions and am committed to the profession full time.”
